The Maoists are enforcing a nationwide strike ... politics, politics, politics ... and everything is closed. No transport, no shops, no schools. So I am waiting to start my teaching job as soon as the strike is lifted. In the meantime the air is clear here and the streets empty. The sun is shining and I enjoy an iced coffee in the Kathmandu Guest House's private garden away from the protests and the streets.
On the streets it is like a holiday day with the locals enjoying the space and fresh air. Football games, eating ice creams, sitting and taking time to talk with friends. Tourists make the most of the roads to walk to the temples and sights of Kathmandu. Others stay home with their families.
Good summary ;)
