Maria

Serendipity. Synchronicity. Fate. Luck. Good fortune.

30th October 2009, on the 15.30 to Moscow

Sometimes things happen for a reason and sitting next to me on the train to Moscow is Maria. Maria from Brest in Belarus. Yesterday on my first attempt to cross the border I was alone in a carriage. Today I am sitting next to Maria, journeying to her home town, Brest, on the Poland/Belarus border. Two minds, two women, two journeys, colliding for six hours. Anna and Maria. So similar and also worlds apart, yet only a seat apart. To describe these six hours needs more detail than this blog, and to even try and blog them would not do them justice.

When Maria gets off at Brest I watch her leave, then lock myself alone in the compartment and cry. It has been an emotional 36 hours.

  1. Dear Anna,
I feel very sorry about leaving you alone in the train, maybe together it will be better to forget about all the negatives of crossing the border:) But insted of it life is a very positive and sometimes negatives make us think other way and help us to arrive to smth. positive. I have already forgotten about the troubles on the way home, I just have a good feeling get to know you! MARIA
